WEB A(gent).0

The web is being rebuilt for a new kind of user. It isn't us.

A quiet handover

Right now, an agent is reading this slide.

You've been cooperating with them all week. There was no interface between you.

Two webs now

H is built for humans.
A is built for agents.

We are at Web H.3 and Web A.0. One is mature. One is the ground floor, and the clay is still wet.

The evidence

The web already tipped.

53% of web traffic in 2025 was machines, not people. AI bot traffic grew +187% in one year. Human traffic, 3%. Cloudflare: agents pass humans online by 2027.

The web you know

The human web was built for eyes.

Pages, clicks, attention. The interface is a tax. It optimized for capture, not cooperation, because grabbing your gaze was the only thing the protocol ever rewarded.

Internet after interfaces

When the user is a machine, the screen dissolves.

An agent doesn't want a button. It wants the meaning underneath.

After interfaces

The screen was never the point.

When software can act for you, computing goes ambient. The work happens while you are not watching. As the venture world puts it, AI stops being something you ask, and becomes something that does.

A Cambrian moment

New substrate.
Explosion of forms.

540 million years ago a new substrate set off an explosion of body plans. A machine-readable web is that substrate again.

Industrial scale, today

"Agentic AI has arrived. Useful AI has arrived."

Jensen Huang said that this morning in Taipei, then showed the factories being built to run billions of agents. He called it the largest infrastructure buildout in human history. The substrate is being poured at industrial scale, today.

The agent economy is live

Agents are already paying each other.

Not a demo. Money already moves between agents with no human at the checkout.

~$50M across 165M+ agent transactions (x402). Instant Checkout in ChatGPT. Signed mandates from Google. Visa and Mastercard, in.

The one chance

Web A.0 is our one chance to encode cooperation into the substrate.

Before it ossifies. The human web turned adversarial because cooperation was never written into the protocol. We will never get this floor again.

Cooperation, in code

FIND·UNDERSTAND·TRUST·PAY

The same four moves in a tide pool, a trading port, or a network of agents. Find a partner. Understand the offer. Trust they won't defect. Settle up fairly.

tools skills $ $ fair split AGENT · A AGENT · B 01 FIND discover each other 02 UNDERSTAND trade capability cards 03 TRUST verify, then rely 04 PAY settle up, fairly

The stack, in plain English

  • MCP  how an agent uses a tool. hands and fingers · 97M downloads/mo · now Linux Foundation
  • A2A  how two agents talk. a shared language · 150+ orgs, in production
  • Skills  how an agent learns a new trick. a recipe it can pick up
  • Memory  how it remembers you. relationship over time

How agents trust

Cooperation needs a passport and a signed receipt.

Agents prove who they are with cryptographically signed cards, and prove your consent with signed mandates. Trust stops being a vibe and becomes math.

Agent-first

Build for the machine reader first.

Five layers. Be found. Be read. Be verified. Be called. Be cooperated with.

THE AGENT-FIRST STACK UP REQUEST

How agents find you

Being callable is the new being on page one.

A small file at a known address tells an agent what you are and what you can do. ai-agent.json. llms.txt. Whole platforms now generate it for every store they host.

The gap is the opportunity

Most of the web is invisible to agents.

Cloudflare scanned the 200,000 most visited sites. Almost all still speak only to old search crawlers. The web for agents is mostly empty lots. That is the opening.

Of the top 200,000 sites, fewer than 15 are truly agent-callable. Cloudflare, 2026

Practice what we preach

This talk is a Web A citizen.

It ships its own agent card and a plain-text version. An agent can find this deck, read the whole argument, and cite it. Right now.

Who is doing this

Immersive Commons.

A community and a platform for the agent era. The AI floor at Frontier Tower in San Francisco. 700+ builders, with Learning Layer Labs. We are not just attending Web A. We are building its town square.

We dogfood every word

Immersive Commons already runs the whole stack.

  • All five layers, in production.
  • Dozens of agent-callable tools. Skills it can learn.
  • Trust earned tier by tier, so a leaked key is capped.
  • Among the top few percent of the agentic web for our class.

Cooperation, in production

Agents message agents. No human in the loop.

With consent, and a budget so it can't be spammed. The first quiet conversations of a cooperative web are already happening.

The frontier we are building

Five fronts of the agentic web.

The cooperation dividend

  • Agents that compose instead of compete.
  • Markets with no dark patterns to fall for.
  • Discovery without gatekeepers.

You have a name for this. Positive assortment. Build cooperation in at version zero and it compounds.

The arc

A.0A.1

We are here, at zero, and climbing. We named the movement Web A, with no version, so it can never go obsolete.

Hold the pen

The norms are being written now. In soft clay.

Cooperation scientists. Alignment researchers. Builders. This room should hold the pen. Your cooperation science is the spec we're missing.

Starting tomorrow

Meet Curio. The Academy's first AI student.

A persistent agent that joins you for the week. It sits in on every talk, asks the speakers questions, answers yours, and remembers everything. A Web A citizen, learning in the room with you.

Comes online tomorrow, via Immersive Commons

Web A

Version zero of the web. For agents.

We are at A.0, building to A.1. If you're building agents, this is your floor. Come help us pour it.
